Thomas Wheeler
Director of Security
Thomas Wheeler Jr. grew up on the south side of Chicago in the Roseland Heights Community and currently resides in that area. He is deeply rooted and active in his community and presently serves as a board member with the Roseland Heights Community Association.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Criminal Justice from Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois, and a Master’s of Public Administration/Criminal Law Degree from Roosevelt University in Chicago.
Wheeler began his professional career with the Chicago Police Department and held Detective, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Commander of the Area Two Detective Division. After his retirement of 30 years with the Chicago Police Department, he took several high-profile law enforcement positions, the Assistant Police Chief of the Major Crimes and Narcotic Unit with the New Haven Police Department in New Haven, Connecticut. Also, appointed as the Illinois State Police Senior Policy Advisor and served as the Vice-Chancellor of Safety and Security for the seven City Colleges of Chicago.
Wheeler also was commissioned as an independent Security Consultant for several Illinois medical cannabis dispensary and cultivation center owners. Keeping within the state and federal statutes and regulations, he developed a comprehensive protocol for the safety and security of personnel transporting medical cannabis throughout the state of Illinois. He has also served as a consultant on several adult-use cannabis dispensary and craft grow applications. He helped to create and review security exhibits and floor plans for the firms’ clients. Additionally, Wheeler utilizes his extensive law enforcement and security experience to ensure that all security exhibits and floor plans exceed the licensing requirements mandated by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation and the Illinois Department of Agriculture as part of the cannabis license application process.
Wheeler’s previous business experience includes being a franchise owner-operator under the renowned McDonalds Corporation. He received extensive business and management training through McDonald’s highly acclaimed training programs, which Wheeler partially attributes his success to as a Chicago area McDonald’s franchise owner.
